Land In Cuba – Don’t Rush
Many developers are getting excited about buying large tracts of land, building huge beach resorts , farming operations, housing developments, and many other projects. However, there are many complexities that stand in the way.
Firstly, all land is state owned. The Government has not announce any plans to sell. While single family homes are “private” they do not own the land underneath them.
Even if land were for sale , there is a great certainly that Miami Cuban families , with ancient deeds in hand , will come to reclaim what was confiscated from their parents and grandparents. Years of litigation can ensue ( as was the case in Eastern Europe ) and you may end up losing your entire investment.
Leasing land may be a possibility in the near future.
